Warraguk (searching for mormo) – 36×48 Oils on Canvas

$2800

Warraguk is an Aboriginal spirit from the Kakadu Tribe in Northern Central Australia. His wings are similar to a sugar glider’s and he roams during the day searching for mormo- honey. Aboriginal artwork is unusual in its x-ray style, showing the bones inside the outline of the figure. This artwork pays homage to that style with anatomically correct bones under translucent skin.

Jennie recognizes and pays respect to the Bininj as the original custodians of Warraguk and pays respect to the past and present Elders who safeguarded this information. Additional respect is paid to the unknown aboriginal artist who inspired this painting and research.
